Eiji Aonuma Updates on Zelda U

With E3 only months away, and with Zelda U coming out this year, information on the title has been surprisingly scant. Even with mere hints like Easter eggs in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, people are looking for something a little more concrete. Today, through an interview with Famitsu, they’re getting just that.

While Aonuma states that he’s been “busy” with the title, he did expand that statement and said that the game is taking form. Zelda U is being compared, though, as a change in the series. Citing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as the “secret sauce,” Aonuma offered the following:

“I think the base of our secret sauce has always been Ocarina of Time. But this time, the change in flavor will be like going from Japanese food to Western style food. Perhaps, players will be surprised.

Please look forward to it, because I think we’ll be able to make ‘something new’ like Ocarina of Time was.”

Considering the whispers that Zelda U may be open world and contain many more surprises, who knows what’s next for the future of the series? Let us know your thoughts!
