In a brief video posted to the official Final Fantasy XIV Facebook page, director and producer Naoki Yoshida announced the opening of a European Data Centre for the long-running MMO. This marks the first Data Centre outside of North America and Japan, and promises a smoother connection and better experience for European players.
The European Data Centre was initially announced at a Fan Festival held last year, but is now open to players as a way to cap off a lengthy series of European events. The transition to the European Data Centre will be made automatically as appropriate, with Square Enix shifting the character data. The brief video also contained some minor announcements for the upcoming 3.1 patch. The update promises new story and battle content, an additional raid and the new Lord of Verminion system, which focuses on the player’s minion collection.
