Ocarina of Time Speedrun Record Broken Again

Ocarina of time speedrun

In the mind-boggling world of speedrunning, fans who are masters of their craft continually amaze us common folk by beating video games in incredible ways. A popular target for them is the Ocarina of Time speedrun, and today, YouTuber and Twitch streamer Torje has beaten the any% world record by defeating Ganon after only a rounded-up 17 minutes and 10 seconds. Torje utilizes a number of in-game glitches and exploits to reach the end of the game so quickly, which to us looks a lot like witchcraft, but they are all bugs that the original game was shipped with. Watch the video in its entirety below.

The Ocarina of Time speedrun seems to be in a constant state of nearing perfection, until someone else comes along who discovers another exploit that shaves more valuable seconds from the run. Watching the video, I can only be in awe at the time and dedication it must have taken to learn the game so intimately. What do you think about this new world record? Should a speedrun like this stay away from the in-game exploits? Or is it a case of getting to the end using whatever means possible? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Well there are different categories of Speedrunning, with some requiring you finish all dungeons or beat the game without glitches. I think it’s fun how these people scour games for years and years looking for little shortcuts and then practice them to perfection to get runs like this.
