SEGA has unveiled the first footage of the upcoming Valkyria Chronicles Remaster, with a new trailer hitting YouTube recently. The trailer details the alternate history storyline surrounding the events of the original Valkyria Chronicles, as well as the unique tactical-RPG elements that drive the gameplay. The subdued, yet eye-catching art style and smooth animation are also put front and centre, to demonstrate the improvements of this HD remaster. It’s a nifty looking package, complete with all of the additional content from the initial release.
Valkyria Chronicles Remaster is set to land in Japan on February 10, exclusively for the PlayStation 4, with first run copies bundled with a demo for the upcoming Valkyria: Azure Revolution. No word has been made yet on a Western release for either title. The franchise has had a patchy history of localisations, with two of the previous three entries making it to the West. However, the decision to withhold Valkyria Chronicles III could well be tied more to the fledgling sales of the PSP, rather than the success of the franchise, and the 2014 PC port of the original title shows SEGA holds the franchise in some regard.
