Platinum Games seems to be keeping busy by bringing back fan-favorite 80s and 90s cartoon and comic book properties. Last year saw the release of Transformers Devastation, a charming cel-shaded homage to the original generation Transformers. It seems this year will see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles receive similar treatment, with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan.
Gaming news site PureXbox posted a leaked gallery of screenshots from the as-of-yet unannounced title. The screenshots demonstrate a crisp cel-shaded art style, while also serving as a checklist of familiar Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles faces. Although there has been no official confirmation of a release, the game has been approved for classification within the Australian market, and a list of achievements has been leaked.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is no stranger to the video game market, but has largely disappointed fans as of late. After a string of mediocre releases, Mutants in Manhattan may be just what fans are looking for. If Transformers Devastation was anything to go by, we’ll receive a thoroughly entertaining and eye-catching homage to Donatello and his three less-significant turtle comrades. No release date has been announced as of yet, but we do know that an Xbox 360 and Xbox One release is in the cards. Perhaps next year will see Platinum take on Voltron, G.I. Joe, or Power Rangers. A man can dream, right?
