The Nazi Zombie mode has become a staple of the Call of Duty series and Activision has revealed the newest iteration featuring in Call of Duty: WWII.
This time round, the Nazi Zombie mode has ditched a lot of the goofiness of previous entries for a more horrifying experience. This Zombie mode seems reminiscent of the modes in World at War and Black Ops. First revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and later reported by Ign, Sledgehammer Games were calling it the least campy and most terrifying zombie mode yet. They stressed their goal is to keep it grounded and avoid that natural desire to “dial everything up to 11”. “The number of times we think you’re going to maybe pee a little is going to be more than what you’ve experience before,” Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey said. While the trailer does not show much of the mode’s story, it does seem Sledgehammer is trying to create a terrifying yet enjoyable experience.
Developer Sledgehammer Games also announced the new cast for the Nazi Zombies Mode via twitter. David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) will play Drostan Hynd, Katheryn Winnick (Vikings, The Dark Tower) will play Marie Fischer, Elodie Young (Marvel’s Daredevil, The Defenders) will play Olivia Durant and Udo Kier (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Armageddon) Doktor Peter Straub. These four characters are briefly shown throughout the reveal trailer. Sledgehammer also revealed later on that Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, Mission Impossible series) will play Jefferson Potts. Any further details of these characters have not yet been revealed. Call of Duty: WWII comes out on PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on November 3rd.
