Activision Blizzard has recently been expanding their work outside of the video game market and into the world of television and live streaming. Their most recent endeavor has been buying Major League Gaming for $46 million dollars. Activision Blizzard’s CEO, Bobby Kotick, said that they plan to become ‘the ESPN of eSports’ in a statement. This shows to be a promising move by the company seeing how eSports have been receiving more attention than other professional sports more recently. It is predicted that there will be almost 300 million people actively watching eSports by 2017. eSports have also been able to raise $612 million in revenue just in a few years, making it a profitable business.
