After days of teasing us with a new mystery game Agent 47 is back! At 10 am Pacific Time, IGN and Warner Brother games revealed Hitman 2, the sequel to the super-popular 2016 reboot, Hitman, we even got a solid release date of November 13, 2018. The trailer and clips that were shown off during the live stream showed us a contract event in Miami where you are tasked to assassinate a very rich tech company CEO Robert. During this event which takes place at a Formula 1 style race, you are also asked to take out Mr. Knox’s daughter and race car driver Sierra Knox.
When attempting to kill Sierra, you apparently must do it while she is racing, but the assassination MUST look like an accident. You can travel behind the scenes where you can put on many different outfits. For this contract kill you can disguise yourself as a member of the race team and enter the garage where Sierra’s beloved car is stored. While there you can loosen bolts on the wheel frame, and/or plant explosives in the opposite wheel area, mess with the engine, and try to make the car eventually wreck and then perfectly place a bullet into the explosives to make the car explode, making her beloved car turn into her mangled coffin.
While dealing with her billionaire father, we see Agent 47 walking through the pavilion of a conference center or maybe even an upscale hotel. 47 is wearing his iconic suit and carrying his even more iconic briefcase, which usually holds his trusty sidekick, his sniper rifle with body-piercing ammo, and Shockwave ammo in tow. You set up in a window and take out Robert Knox when the moment is just right.
By the time his body guards and the police figure out where the bullet came from, Agent 47 has already disappeared. Whether it is hiding in foliage, or pulling an Ezio Auditore, and blending in with the crowd, it is clear to see that the Stealth mechanics have gone through a huge overhaul since Hitman. Hitman 2 also gives you more opportunities to use your sniper rifle than before.
The online mechanic was also shown off with a mission that would make brides everywhere cry. During this online play titled Hitman: Sniper Assassin mode (which is playable instantly when you pre-order the silver, gold, or Collectors Edition of Hitman 2) you can go at this mission alone or with a friend. You are tasked with killing three targets: Dorian Lang, Guillame Maison, and Doris Lee. During the mission, the destructive elements located within the environment are bountiful and almost endless. Anything from explosions, dropping speakers, shooting sprinklers when you’ve destroyed a street lamp causing an electrocution trap, and imploding fire extinguishers. All three targets are roaming the grounds of this seemingly very expensive wedding, and if you can’t find them a tap of the right bumper will initiate instinct mode where the screen goes black and white and the targets and body guards are highlighted in different colors.
Hitman 2 looks like an improvement to its amazing predecessor. We’re sure to see this game again at E3 in a couple of days. Hitman 2 also is coming out with not only the base game but 3 other editions: the Silver, Gold, or Collectors editions. The game is available four full days earlier if you opt to purchase the Gold or Collectors Edition. The trailer and live stream had no mention of any type of episodic game style like the last Hitman gave us. It seems as if this installment will be a full on story driven adventure across the globe, virtually taking Agent 47 back to his roots by modeling the past Hitman games on the older generation consoles. With a release date of November 13, 2018 or November 9, 2018 for the owners of the Gold and Collectors editions, we won’t have to wait too long to suit up, grab our briefcase, and head out to hunt!
