ARK: Survival Evolved Update Announced

During the PC Gaming conference at E3, developers from Studio Wildcard Jesse and Forest Rapczak, revealed new features coming to ARK: Survival Evolved.

The newest biome coming to ARK: Survival Evolved is the redwood forest, which brings about a whole new way to survive. The redwoods are sturdy enough to allow for the creation of treetop bases, resembling Ewok homes amid Endor’s moon.

A new dinosaur, rightfully called the Titanosaur, will rear its gargantuan head as well with the upcoming update. The Titanosaur is the largest dinosaur ARK has ever seen, and cannot be trained through usual methods. Instead, it will need to be knocked unconscious. The benefit from controlling this dinosaur is well worth the effort: a base can be constructed on its back, allowing the player to be consistently mobile and protected.

The Rapczaks also praised the modding community, and have announced they have hired a few modders in the community to do official content creation for ARK. One upcoming official mod will see the addition of more roleplaying elements, as well as a built-in trading function.

Players will be able to be the head of their own wolf pack.

Another upcoming official mod, titled ARK: Primal Survival, brings a unique experience to the game: playing as animals. Players will be able to take control of any animal, from sharks to spiders to wolves, and live out their entire lifespan. Mating will be an essential command, and forming packs and combating other species, including humans, is necessary for survival.

Last but not least, monkey players can engage in poop wars. Yes, that is an actual feature.

This update is slated for July for PC. No confirmation was given on any update coming to Xbox One.
