Bethesda Announces “Creation Club”

At Bethesda’s E3 conference tonight, the Maryland publisher and developer announced a new DLC platform for two of their most successful games, Skyrim and Fallout 4.

“Creation Club” will combine proprietary content with community-created mods, all of which can be purchased with “credits,” a nebulous currency whose nature Bethesda did not elaborate on. The content appears to be largely cosmetic in nature.

This new platform follows in the footsteps of Bethesda’s previous failed attempt at taking control of Skyrim‘s mod community. It is as yet unclear what the publisher has learned from that PR misstep.
