Surprise surprise. Call of Duty: WWII has rocketed to the top of the charts in the UK, with sales up by more half on the much unloved Infinite Warfare. The 57% rise in uptake shows that gamers seem to responding well to the new direction the big two war games are taking. This is according the figures posted on chart-track.co.uk.
It will be interesting to see what Treyarch does next. This positive reception can only reinforce the fact that innovation is needed in order to succeed, rather than just shoving an ever-increasing array of flashy guns and special effects in our faces. Maybe WWII is a new beginning for the franchise, one which will see us falling in love with COD all over again.
As a note – Call of Duty: WWII dethrones Assassin’s Creed: Origins after its short stint at the top.
