Death Stranding was shown off in great detail at Sony’s E3 press conference this year. In beautiful gameplay footage, we see Norman Reedus’ character traversing across various landscapes including valleys, cliffs, mountains, and streams to deliver something. It appears to be the fetus from the first few trailers. In addition to two storage drones following behind him, he carries a massive backpack.
What begins as a straightforward journey soon turns to the weirdness that Hideo Kojima has always associated with Death Stranding. Strange things happen such as handprints appearing in the mud and plant life blooming in an instant.
This new trailer also introduces a new character, a woman who seems to have the ability to see invisible beings. She also ingests some sort of bug that helps sustain her abilities. Norman, while carrying the fetus, appears to hold back his breathing in order to avoid detection from interdimensional beings.
To be perfectly honest, we aren’t sure what we saw exactly, but we are trying to process the trailer one step at a time. Stay tuned as we speculate on the mysteries of Hideo Kojima.
The current cast, as noted in the trailer, is Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and introducing Lea Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner.
Death Stranding is exclusive to Playstation 4 and does not have a release date yet.
