The Division Shatters Ubisoft Sales Records

Ubisoft’s newest shooter, The Division, which released March 8, came online to outages and server issues that left many feeling frustrated. Those frustrations started in the West once America’s servers went online, and many took to social media to express their rage.

That rage, however, may be a bit premature, as evidence has surfaced earlier today that Ubisoft’s sales records were shattered by The Division.¬†This shooter has broken the most sales in a 24 hour period for PC and console.

While exact sales numbers are not known, PC Gamer has done a little bit of backtracking, and discovered that the title has sold more than Watchdogs, with a record of four million sales in a week. With enough math and a bit of ball parking, that’s still a huge quantity of players.

While Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillermot may be elated, it’s going to be more intriguing to see how the game does from a critical and general standpoint. Back when we played the beta, we weren’t extremely thrilled by the title. Did these perceptions get carried over to the final product?
