Duke Nukem 3D is almost 20 years old and Gearbox Software is celebrating by releasing an anniversary edition for modern consoles. This edition will feature the full game remastered and a brand new fifth episode comprised of eight levels. Original episode designers Allen Blum III and Richard “Levelord” Gray will once again be taking the reigns on this.
Fans of the meatheaded macho hero will be happy to know that original voice actor Jon St. John will be once again reprising the role of Duke for re-recordings of the original lines. A new musical score for the fifth episode will also handled by Lee Jackson, original composer and author of Duke’s theme song.
Duke Nukem 3D was one of the pinnacle first-person shooters in its day. It helped to popularize the genre, along with Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. It was a controversial release due to its gratuitous violence, sexual content, and misogynistic portrayal of women.
Duke Nukem 3D 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour will release on October 11th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
