From January 19 to January 24, Xbox Live Gold subscribers who own an Xbox One will be able to try out Electronic Arts’ EA Access service for free. The trial will offer 14 free games to play, one of the most interesting ones being Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. All characters unlocked in the original will carry over to the sequel, which releases in February, and is a nice promotion for the upcoming game. Access subscribers also get 10 percent off all digital content.

There are also 13 more playable games which will be available.

  • Battlefield 4
  • Battlefield Hardline
  • Titanfall
  • FIFA 14
  • FIFA 15
  • Madden 25
  • Madden 14
  • NHL 15
  • NBA Live 15
  • EA Sports UFC
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition
  • Need for Speed: Rivals
  • Peggle 2

The list does include some older games, but it is still a great chance to try the service out and see what EA has to offer. After the trial run is over, users will have to either pay $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year to continue the service.

Sony was offered a similar proposition, but turned it down because they felt it “wasn’t a good value for Playstation fans.”
