Eevee Evolution Trick in Pokémon GO Confirmed by Niantic

As reported by Gamnesia last week, there was a rumor going around about Pokémon GO, stating that players could control whether or not Eevee evolves into Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon. Allegedly, this was accomplished by nicknaming Eevee after one of the brothers who owned those evolutions in the Pokémon anime series. Alas this rumor has turned out to be true, confirmed by Niantic CEO John Hanke at San Diego Comic-Con today. When prompted with the question of whether or not the rumor was true, Hanke responded,

Yeah, so, anybody got any Eevees out there? So yes, if you name your Eevee properly, you can control how it’s gonna evolve.”

Additionally, Hanke let on that there might be more easter eggs hidden with the game. Players everywhere are now on the search for whatever easter eggs may be out there, Ready Player One-style. People will surely delve deep into the anime to discover any clues hidden within Pokémon GO.
