Elder Scrolls 6 Will Probably Be For Next-Gen Consoles

If you’re waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, you may be waiting for quite some time yet. Rather, it’s likely that we’ll see the next generation of video game consoles released before the game hits the shelves.

Earlier this year at E3, video game publisher Bethesda surprised fans by announcing the upcoming development of two future games – one being the ever-awaited The Elder Scrolls 6. The other game – a sci-fi single player going by the name of Starfield – was announced first, which is important when considering the potential release dates of the titles.

In an interview with GameSpot, Matt Firor, who is the ZeniMax Online Studios game director, confirmed that it’s going to be quite some time yet before the game is going to be developed and ready to be released. To give fans a view of perspective, he explained:

“The easiest thing is [to] look at how it was announced; it was Starfield and then [Elder Scrolls 6]. You can go back and count the years between Bethesda Game Studios releases, and you’ll get the idea that [The Elder Scrolls 6 is] not coming anytime soon.”

Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines was also present during the interview and shed some light on the reasoning for the early announcements. He stated that, even though there’s still going to be quite a while until additional information is released regarding the titles, the publisher wants to let fans know that there are plans for The Elder Scrolls 6 in the works.

Hines was also rather vague around releasing too many details regarding the game itself, but he did note about The Elder Scrolls 6 that “it’s big and it’s ambitious”, so fans are to expect a huge addition to the franchise.

When it comes to the next generation of consoles, there’s already a lot of talk about what’s in the works for various platforms. Microsoft has already confirmed that they are currently developing multiple new consoles, which Sony hasn’t yet confirmed the rumors that it’s working on the PlayStation 5. Though, the announcements of the consoles and their eventual release dates have yet to be revealed.
