Nintendo Switch owners who have long been jealous of their comrades on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One being able to enjoy the sequel to Mouldy Toof Studios’ The Escapists, will be happy to hear that Team 17 has confirmed that The Escapists 2 is to be released on the Switch January 11th 2018.

Building on the success of the original, The Escapists 2 expands the winning formula by providing new customization options, themed prisons, escape methods and, more intriguingly, a multiplayer mode. Those who fear porting problems across platforms will be relieved to hear that all of these new features will be included in the Switch edition, which will also support up to four players both in online co-op and versus modes, with an additional two-player drop-in/drop-out mode for split-screen play. For the split-screen co-op, players will be able to use either a single Joy-Con or two Pro Controllers to control their characters.

The Escapists 2 will be available from the Switch eShop from January 11th, retailing around $19.99 USD which will give it price parity with other platforms. It will also be available for pre-purchase and pre-load from January 4th.
