After a busy E3 and Gamescom, it seems Ubisoft is not done yet. Yesterday, they released an extended gameplay walkthrough for Far Cry 5.

Associate producer Phillippe Fournier and scriptwriter Marri Knadle discuss new details about the game during the walkthrough. Right out of the gate the walkthrough shows off the different ways you can approach any situation. Whether having your loyal dog Boomer help out or running over enemies with a tractor, there are multiple ways to tackle any situation. As the trailer goes on you get to see some new additions and activities you can do in Hope County, Montana. This will be the first time that a Far Cry entry takes place in the United States. However, you must help keep Hope County safe against a hostile group of cultists preparing for the apocalypse. The trailer ends with the developers shooting down a Cultist airplane in a dogfight. The extended gameplay walkthrough for Far Cry 5 last a little over eight minutes.

For years, the Far Cry series has been both a critical and financial success for Ubisoft. One criticism that the series has earned in its recent entries is the lack of innovation in mission structure. It seems in every game you are in some way climbing up to a viewpoint or taking out the same old bandit camps. We will not know for sure how innovative the game will turn out to be until it finally releases next year. Judging by the gameplay that showcases new mechanics and a variety of side content, things are looking promising for the game. Far Cry 5 could become the most innovative game of the series since Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 5 will release on February 27, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. For anything else Far Cry 5 or gaming related, stay tuned to us here at Gamer Professionals.
