The 1.2.2 update brought big changes to Faction Rallies in Season 3 of Destiny 2. There will be a total of three rallies through this season.
However, this time players can only pledge to one faction per account. This way, players will pledge to a faction is more meaningful since it prevents players from pledging to three factions with three characters. The factions will have ranks that players can reach by getting faction tokens. Also, reputation progress is retained and will not change during reset or if the alliance is changed.
Faction Rallies have more to offer now too! Each faction has a unique Masterwork Catalysts for Exotic weapons and Exotic armor ornaments. Ranking up grants legendary armor and weapons.
The new feature “Renown” is a system that makes grinding for token a bit riskier. Renown can be earned after completing patrol missions, public events, and defeating high-value targets in the required destination. If players loot a Lost Sector with Renown active, they will receive more faction tokens than usual. However, Renown will be gone if players are defeated. Since Renown can stack it is best to be more cautious while playing.
Renown also makes gameplay more challenging by reducing health regeneration, decreasing player damage, and increasing incoming damage. When Renown is active, there will be an aura around the players that others around them can see.
Faction Rallies will start on Tuesday, June 5 at 10 a.m. PDT.
