The FCC have proposed rules for new wireless frequencies which will provide mobile service with significantly more capacity and faster speeds for next-generation mobile and Wi-Fi technology. Previous limitations prevented mobile services in these frequencies but new developments will allow use for mobile applications, such as 5G.

These bands will be available using a variety of authorisation schemes including licensed and unlicensed access to enable super-fast mobile service and Wi-Fi. Additionally, a variety of platforms and uses will be possible, including satellite uses.

With this initiative, the FCC are establishing a framework which will allow wireless technologies to keep pace with technological development. This will allow future emerging technology to flourish as a result.
