During the 2016 Star Wars Celebration, EA and DICE announced the next two downloadable content packs coming to Star Wars Battlefront. The first pack highlights the iconic battle to destroy the Death Star. In the teaser trailer (seen below), a battle is being waged around several Star Destroyers making their way towards the largest weapon in the galaxy. EA has also announced that Chewbacca and General Bossk are the new playable hero and villain (respectively) in the Death Star DLC pack. With the update, new vehicles, blasters, and star cards will be added to help players destroy (or save?) the Death Star. The Death Star DLC pack is scheduled to be release in fall.
The next, and last, downloadable content coming to Star Wars Battlefront is the Rogue One: Scarif update. The new pack “continues the battle with heroes from Rogue One: A Star Wars™ Story and explores a new planet from the upcoming film”, as described by EA during the Star Wars celebration. Scarif is a tropical planet seen before in trailers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and is the main place of conflict in the new expansion. The update is scheduled to come out during the holiday season (to parallel Rogue One‘s theater release of December 16th). It’s also worth noting that Star Wars Battlefront season pass holders will have access to the Rogue One expansion two weeks early.
The final Star War Battlefront announcement given during the celebration was the inclusion of an offline mode called Skirmish. As described by EA: “Skirmish will offer players the ability to play across two of Star Wars Battlefront’s most popular modes on a difficulty level of your choosing. While offline, you can take to the battlefront in Walker Assault, or to the skies in Fighter Squadron. With multiple locations that span the Star Wars universe, Skirmish brings a new way to enjoy Star Wars Battlefront and there is even an option for coop split screen.” Skirmish with be available to Star Wars Battlefront players on July 21st, regardless of if you own a season pass or not.
