Overwatch has been stringing along fans with a long-running ARG (Alternate Reality Game) revolving around one mysterious and elusive character, Sombra. But it seems that the cat is out of the bag, as a new image as surfaced that is apparently leaked artwork directly from Blizzard. The original post was on the Overwatch Reddit thread, but has since been removed. However, those with a keen eye and a quick screen capture were able to save the image.
This picture essentially solidifies what the new hero will look like and confirms previously leaked images, which can be found here. Although Blizzard is yet to confirm anything, it is almost certain that Sombra will be the next hero in Overwatch.
With Blizzcon right around the corner and Overwatch’s Halloween event coming to a close today, now would be a perfect time to release a new character. Blizzard has been leading players on with Sombra for a while now and it will be a relief to finally have at least an official release date.
With that being said, Overwatch will definitely benefit from releasing a new hero. With new multiplayer shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield being released, it will be difficult to keep fans of Overwatch hooked. Since the other titles have such a strong fan-base, Blizzard is going to have to pull out all the stops in order to keep players interested and wanting to come back for more new maps, heroes, and game modes.
Luckily, Blizzard has already been doing a fantastic job of creating a unique and entertaining experience with Overwatch. The shear variety in characters and classes should be enough to keep players going for a long time. On top of that, all of the newest characters, maps, and special events have been made available for free up to this point and it does not look like Blizzard is going to change that anytime soon. Overwatch and Blizzard have always been all about their fans and hopefully that means that they will finally put the mystery to rest and release Sombra once and for all.
