It is safe to say that Fortnite is one of the most popular games out there at the moment. From the constant updates to celebrities playing with Twitch streamers, the buzz around the game is very high. Now, you can even earn a Fortnite Scholarship.

Reported by Tech Crunch, The University of Ashland, located in Ohio, has added Fortnite to the University’s esports program. It will be joining the likes of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Overwatch and Rocket League in the university’s program. The scholarship is worth $4,000 and full paying student pay around $31,000. Ashland’s esports head coach Josh Buchanan says,

“Fortnite appeals both to core and causal gaming audience… We’re excited to provide this platform for gamers who want to showcase their skills in a more competitive space. Fortnite facilitates an environment that allows players to get creative, innovative and show off their mastery of their skills.”

Fortnite has been a huge success both financial and critically for Epic Games. I first reviewed the game last October and said the newly added Battle Royale mode was a fun and free experience but was lacking content at launch. Now, Fortnite seems to be taking over the world and you can now get a scholarship for the game. What do you think about Ashland University offering a Fortnite scholarship?
