From Origins to Odyssey: The RPG circle is complete.

Building on our recent feature on Assassins Creed Odyssey, IGN sat down with Ubisoft after the showcase to talk more on Assassins Creed Odyssey!

During this interview Ubisoft had quite a bit to say. Assassins Creed Origins was the origin story of the Assassin brotherhood. Odyssey will be the origin story of the first civilization, which is a precursor race that created not only the pieces of eden that we have chased from hell to Houston over the past decade, but also created humanity itself. The Spear of Leonidas that the player will carry throughout the game is an artifact of this pre-cursor race. Origins was the beginning of a transition period moving the franchise from An action/stealth game to a fully fledged RPG, Odyssey completes this transition and for the first time in its existence a main entry into the Assassins Creed franchise will be classified as an action role-playing game. Layla Hassan will also return along with the dialogue options seen the distant past. Ubisoft also revealed”romance” options that allow the player to take on lovers while in-between leaving a trail of chaos across Greece. The game is more than twice the size of Origins, with a huge emphasis on warrior aspects and naval battles; Odyssey seems like the perfect mix of Origins and Black Flag. Noticeably absent from the trailers and game play was the iconic hidden blade, which seems to have been replaced by the Spear of Leonidas. With a solid release date of October 5th, 2018, we do not have long to wait until we can take to the seas again, and stealth kill our way through history.
