Google Possibly Working On a New Gaming Console

For a while now, the console wars have chiefly involved Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox. With the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X battling it out now in the 4K arena, it’s only a matter of time before we learn what comes next for each console. Now it seems someone else might be joining the console wars. It is being reported that Google may be planning on a gaming platform to take on PlayStation and Xbox.

Kotaku revealed the news as well as some information they have been hearing about. There are no specifics out at the moment but Kotaku did report on the three way approach Google is taking. First is to have some type of streaming platform. Second was to have some type of hardware to it. Lastly, Google wants to bring game developers in-house. They are willing to aggressively recruit developers or make major acquisitions. Not much else is known at this time. The console is being codenamed Yeti. When the console will release or even be announced is unknown at this time.

It will be exciting to see how the “Yeti” will turn out. Whether the console provides new experiences or plays games that are on the PS4 or Xbox One, it should add a new wrinkle to the ever going console wars. What do you think about Google’s console? What should Google call the system? Do you think it can compete with Sony’s PS4 or Microsoft’s Xbox One X? For anything else gaming related, stay tuned to us here at Gamer Professionals.
