Episode 24 of our gaming podcast, The Gamer Professionals Show (GPS) is now live! The game releases have finally started to become consistent once again, after a bit of a dry spell for the past couple months. We’ll certainly be reviewing a lot of games from here on out until the end of the year.
At the top of the show, we discuss what we have been playing this week including Sims 4, Splatoon 2, Metroid Fusion, and more Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. We’ve also spent some time with the new No Man’s Sky update, which generates a great discussion about the state of that game and how far it has come since its release.
In the news, we’re disappointed to hear that Crackdown 3 has been delayed, but happy to hear that Okami is coming to Xbox One and PS4. Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier is a new adventure game set in the familiar universe. Next week is Gamescom and there will be some new footage for Star Wars Battlefront II, including the new Starfighter Assault Mode. Lastly, Microsoft have announced that they are making some fundamental changes to Xbox achievements, but there are no concrete details yet.
At the end of the show, we have a final discussion on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, which is a deeply impacting game despite some pacing issues when it comes to combat and puzzle solving. On a lighter note, we have impressions of Sonic Mania, which finally does justice to the original three games on Sega Genesis. It brings the series back to the glory days while also making it accessible for the modern gamer.
