GPS Episode 42: All the Big Games Coming Out in 2018

Episode 42 of our gaming podcast, The Gamer Professionals Show (GPS), is now live! It is our first GPS of 2018, so we thought it would be fun to look forward into all the significant game releases coming out this year.

We start off the show talking about Nier: Automata, which I consider to be an underdog of 2017. Many have overlooked this game, which released during the early part of the year amidst a slew of other great games. This game employs 26 endings, one for each letter of the alphabet, which is a strange and daunting concept. We talk about my time completing the “A” route and why I felt the urge to restart the game.

This year has a number of promising game titles set for release, including giants like Anthem, Red Dead Redemption 2Far Cry 5Spider-Man, and God of War. One of the best things about this year, as opposed to last year, is that a lot of these releases are spaced out in a way that is far more manageable. Remember last year when Zelda and Horizon released in the same week?

For fans of JRPGs, Lost Sphear and Project Octopath Traveler look to be extremely promising. Another game that we can’t wait to jump into is Sea of Thieves, which hopefully doesn’t fall into a trap of repetitive gameplay. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of year EA will have and how Anthem, if it releases this year, will handle microtransactions and loot boxes.

There’s a ton of great games to look forward to in 2018 and we’re only skimming the surface with our discussion in this episode. Here’s to another great year of games!

We hope you enjoy the show. Thanks for listening!
