Episode 65 of our gaming podcast, The Gamer Pros Show (GPS), is now live! In our special E3 2018 podcast part two, we’re talking all about Ubisoft, Sony, and Nintendo. There’s nothing quite like the E3 press conferences, which we look forward to every year!
We were genuinely thrilled with Ubisoft, which had a fun, action-packed showing throughout the entire conference. This was probably the most fun we’ve ever had with a Just Dance announcement, not to mention the overall humbleness that Ubisoft brought with their presenters. Beyond Good and Evil 2 was perhaps the most talked about game, raising some questions about its “outsourced” assets and mysterious development cycle. However, it did have an incredible CG trailer. The Division 2 and Skull and Bones had very strong showings, offering a lengthy look at gameplay. Starlink is also now on our radar, after appearing to be an arcade-y space shooter with some No Man’s Sky influences. Oh yeah, Star Fox is in it too!
Sony did not have their usual showing, opting for a more experimental route that most of the in-person attendees did not enjoy. It kicked off with an incredible trailer for The Last of Us Part II, showcasing Ellie’s romantic interest as well as some absolutely brutal game. Then, oddly enough, there was an intermission. We were most impressed by Ghost of Tsushima, whose extensive gameplay demo displayed its beautiful landscapes, action-based combat, and total Akira Kurosawa worship. We’re still puzzled by Death Stranding‘s trailer, excited for Resident Evil 2, and ready to play Spider-Man.
Finally, Nintendo did their traditional E3 livestream, though most of it was focused on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Literally every character was spotlighted during this 30+ minute segment, so if you like Smash, this was the conference for you! Other than that, they revealed that both Hollow Knight and Fortnite were available for download immediately and announced Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
To find out more details about our thoughts on the press conferences overall, be sure to check out this episode, as we try to cover a little of everything!
We hope you enjoy the show. Thanks for listening!
