Legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden have announced that they are working with Roadhouse Interactive and 50cc Games to create a free-to-play RPG for mobile devices. The game, entitled Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, will feature worlds crafted out of Iron Maiden’s lore, and levels designed based off of their artwork. Iron Maiden’s mascot, Eddie, will be the playable protagonist. He will have multiple forms based off of his varied appearances on album covers and travel through time battling characters from the band’s rich artwork.
There has been a small plot reveal from the game’s official website. It states,
“A mysterious force has shattered Eddie’s soul and scattered the shards. Travel through time and space collecting the pieces as you encounter a cast of dramatic and engaging characters.”
Though it hardly needs to be said, the game will feature an Iron Maiden soundtrack, with a variety of songs spanning their 40 year history. Previously unheard live recordings have been adapted for the game by engineer Tony Newton under the close guidance of bassist Steve Harris.
Iron Maiden have depicted various historical settings, mythologies, literary references, and fantasy themes in their artwork and lyrics. The band’s lore and imagery provides a wealth of content to be adapted into the game.
Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is set to release this summer on iOS and Android.
