Following the success of Tom Clancy’s The Division, Ubisoft was reported to be adapting the game into a big-budget movie. Variety reports that the film will star Jake Gyllenhaal, who will also work as the producer.

The game itself is set in a dystopian New York City after a ravaging smallpox pandemic. The player takes the role of an agent in The Division, an organization investigating the outbreak and enforcing peace in New York.

At this point of the development the movie still lacks a writer. Adapting The Division into a movie is not a surprise, as Ubisoft founded the Ubisoft Motion Pictures Division in 2011 after adapting Prince of Persia into a movie, also starring Gyllenhaal. Ubisoft has also considered turning other intellectual properties into movies, such as Far Cry, Rabbids and Watch Dogs, lest we forget the movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed hitting the big screen in December.
