It was previously announced that Showtime was working on adapting the Halo series to television. While this should make fans of the series excited, it seems there one question that keeps popping up: will Master Chief appear in the show? It seems we now have the answer.

During a interview with IGN, Showtime’s President of Programming Gary Levine confirmed that Master Chief will appear in the Halo tv show and will be one of the leads. It is important to note that Master Chief won’t be the only protagonist in the series. Whoever else he is referring to has not been confirmed at this time. Levine described adapting the popular video game series as an “enormous undertaking.” While it is great to know Master Chief will be in the series, some may question how can you have a lead character who you will never see their face? According to Levine, that is a important question and focal point of the series. In reference to Master Chief’s hidden identity, Levine says that “is a key question and an important part of our series, is all I’ll say.”

When asked about  whether the show will tell a new story or adapt the source material, Gary Levine says, “It is a new story but we are being incredibly respectful of the canon and working with the Microsoft/343 people to be sure we don’t violate any of that.” Details are still scarce at the moment, but at least we are starting to get more info about what characters we can expect to see. The series is set to premiere in 2020. Are you excited for Showtime’s Halo TV Series? For anything else Halo or gaming related, stay tuned to us here to Gamer Professionals.
