Death Stranding received a lengthy trailer during the Game Awards. The trailer is just as cryptic as previous teasers for the game, and still leaves many questions about the story, gameplay, and just about everything else. Check out the trailer above!

There are a few things that do stick out about the Death Stranding trailer that are sure to fuel the many theories about the game that have been circulating the internet since the initial announcement. The trailer starts with Norman Reedus and a few other characters on a rocky, almost moon-like, environment while being pursued by translucent beings. These beings seem to be attracted to the sound each person is making as every time they utter a scream or noise they are quickly dispatched by the beings. The struggle seems to revolve around the fetus of a baby being carried by the team in the trailer. After some trippy visual effects, the fetus finds its way inside of Reedus. Really, you’re just going to have to watch the trailer to understand what I’m talking about here. Towards the end, a line spoken by Reedus seems to forebode an event in the upcoming game: “Once there was an explosion. A bang which gave rise to life as we know it. And then, came the next explosion. An explosion that will be our last.” This explosion is heavily emphasized at the end of the trailer where a large crater has been created, presumably by the events in the trailer.

As of writing this, the release date for Death Stranding is still unknown.
