Today at the GameStop Investor/Analyst Day briefing in Texas, Chief Operating Officer Tony Bartel reported that the launch of some next generation consoles could be coming “imminently.”

According to Bartel, this could bring “new growth for the company.” Bartel, who knew more than he revealed, voiced his excitement about the introduction of the technology in the new consoles.”

The Wall Street Journal reported in a recent article that Sony would announce its new console in October. Nintendo will launch the code named NX console before the end of the year, with Microsoft remaining quiet, despite Phil Spencer being displeased with the concept of an Xbox One and a half.

Moreover, Bartel commented about virtual reality and console implementation, adding:

“Although we have not modeled extensive growth for new innovation in this presentation, we are very pleased to see the introduction of technology like virtual reality and rumored new console launches, some of which seem imminent.”

GameStop also started taking pre-orders for the PlayStation VR; meanwhile, Oculus and HTC are awaiting the transition to the retail front.
