Nintendo Making Dreams Happen With Critically Ill Child

Man, it’s stories like this that just make you all warm and fuzzy inside. A critically ill child, Shea Sparling, who suffers from a life-threatening condition called polyarteritis nodosa (an inflammation of the arterial walls), had a desire to meet his hero at Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, and tour their headquarters.

Through the assistance of Dream Factory, similar to the Make-a-Wish foundation in the United States, Shea was able to fulfill his dream and received a warm welcome from the headquarters, which welcomed his family with signs and a personal meeting with Reggie. The family spent time playing Mario Kart with Mr. Fils-Aime, and were able to ask him questions related to Nintendo. The mother spoke highly of their experience at Nintendo of America.

Even in the face of Satoru Iwata’s passing several months ago, Nintendo is doing the stuff they do best – giving people the chance to have fun. Kudos to them for keeping the dream alive for their fans, and this is a great way to do it.
