For the past three years Hello Games, the developers of No Man’s Sky, have been in a secret legal battle to use the word ‘sky’ in the games’ title. Sean Murray, creator of the game, revealed this in a tweet calling it “3 years of secret stupid legal nonsense”. No specifics have been revealed as to what the terms of settlement are, but the game won’t receive a name change. The word is a trademark of Sky TV, a satellite television provider. This is the same company responsible for Microsoft renaming SkyDrive to OneDrive.
Yay! We finally settled with Sky (they own the word "Sky"). We can call our game No Man's Sky. 3 years of secret stupid legal nonsense over

The game is slated to be released on August 9 after recently being pushed back due to a delay.
