Overwatch’s Sombra and Patch Release

The day has finally come. Sombra has been officially released for all Overwatch players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Everything included in the latest patch can be found on the Blizzard forums.

Since Sombra’s release onto the PTR, she has shown promise as a very effective offensive character. Sombra is a stealth based saboteur that can disable the enemy’s abilities and disappear in the blink of an eye. And word in the PTR is that she is going to change the entire paradigm of competitive play. There is sure to be more tweaks coming to Sombra in the coming weeks, as is normal for new heroes in Overwatch.

Another addition in the patch is a new Arcade Mode. This mode features different and unique game modes that will change regularly. Notable there will be a 1-on-1 duel mode and a 3-on-3 skirmish. There are also going to be Loot Boxes made available exclusively through the Arcade!

The final major update is a brand-new map, Ecopoint: Antarctica. This new map is a frozen tundra that was once home to Mei. It is a smaller map that will be featuring the new game modes, including the 3v3 and 1v1 modes.

Additionally, the launch date of the third competitive season has been announced. Season 2 will be ending on November 23rd at 4pm PDT and Season 3 will launch shortly after on November 30th at 4pm PDT. Developers also stated that more adjustments have been made to competitive mode. Essentially, players will be spread out more broadly across the tiers, meaning player’s ranks will probably be lower than their rank in Season 2.

And, as an exciting surprise, Overwatch is releasing yet another free weekend. Players across all platforms will be able to experience the multiplayer shooter, for no charge, from November 18th to the 21st. Full details on the free weekend can be found here.

This patch seems to be full of new and fun additions for Overwatch. Blizzard is keeping a constant flow of new characters, maps, and game modes that will keep the fans happy for a long time to come.
