Early this morning, Japanese developer Atlus released a new trailer for the long-awaited Persona 5. The trailer provided a near-five minute rush of new information, including new characters and locations, and confirmed a release date of September 15, 2016. As of now, this is only the release date for the Japanese version. A Western release date has yet to be announced.
The trailer gives quick glimpses of the “phantom thief” protagonist maneuvering his school’s hallways and the congested streets of Tokyo. When night falls, the protagonist and his party roam a parallel world made up of mansions, a desert, and even what appears to be a spaceship. New party members include a bespectacled computer whiz and an armor-clad fist fighter.
A collector’s edition of Persona 5 will also be available to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the series. The boxed set contains a series soundtrack, artbook, and cosmetic DLC featuring school uniforms from Persona 3 and 4.
Along with the trailer, Atlus also confirmed an air date of September for an anime adaptation. Their official website reveals that Persona 5 will make an appearance at E3. It is more than likely that the Western release date will be confirmed at E3, so stay tuned for Gamer Professionals’ coverage of the event next month!
