Pokémon GO certainly isn’t dead, especially since Niantic have announced that 80 Pokémon originally from the Johto region of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver will be added to the roster later this week. These Pokémon include the starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile. Also shown in a video to accompany the announcement (shown above) were Hoppip, Crobat, Hoothoot, Donphan, Skamory, Murkrow and Marill. Also, some of the creatures already in the game will be able to evolve into Pokémon that inhabit the Johto region after the Pokémon GO update.
As well as new Pokémon, there will be new gameplay features added as well. Pokémon will react in different ways when you try to catch them, there’s a new item carousel that allows you to select berries and Poké balls directly from the encounter screen, and you can customize the look and attire of your character. There are also two new berries: Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries. Nanab Berries will slow a Pokémon’s movements, making it easier to catch, and Pinap Berries double the amount of Candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds. The full announcement can be read here.
What do you think of these additions? Will this Pokémon GO update bring back the kinds of numbers seen when first released? Or is this only good news for the loyal player base that remains? Let us know in the comments below.
