New Cinematic Trailers Reveals Shadow of the Tomb Raider

2018 is becoming ever more jam-packed with video game releases. Shadow of the Tomb Raider has officially been revealed and was also given a September 14th release date.

The reveal trailer shows no gameplay but gives us a few details about the newest Tomb Raider game. It seems South America will be one of the game’s main locationd. The trailer indicates Mayan culture will be a central theme in the upcoming game. The game is being worked on by Eidos Montreal in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics. Crystal Dynamics worked on the previous two Tomb Raider games before Eidos Montreal took over. Even though the game is being worked on by a new developer, the game seems to display the grittiness the rebooted Tomb Raider series is known for.

Something that is changing with Shadow of the Tomb Raider is how you can play it. The previous Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, was first released for Xbox One in 2015 as an exclusive. The game would later go on and be released to PC and PlayStation 4 in 2016. For this entry, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on September 14th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. No other details have been released for this game at this time. When I was a kid, I would play countless hours with my brother and father in games like Madden and NBA 2K. Today, whether it's a huge RPG to be explored or a small indie waiting to tell its own story, I'm ready to pick up the controller and play. For over a decade, I've watched how the videogame landscape has changed and evolved which has me excited for what is to come in the near future.
