Fans of the slow-mo, matrix-style indie hit SUPERHOT will be excited this week as the trailer for a new standalone expansion, SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE appeared on the game’s YouTube channel and now has its own steam page. The expansion promises to be ‘a rogue-like twist on the original SUPERHOT’, in which ‘ The game will force you through dozens of increasingly difficult time-moves-only-when-you-move gameplay challenges. Each challenge will make you more powerful and bring you closer to deciphering the secrets hidden from you by the system’.

In true SUPERHOT style, the game description for MIND CONTROL DELETE in cryptic, ‘Still outnumbered, still outgunned. Enemies swirl around you in a storm of slow motion violence. Battle after battle, each fallen foe pushes you closer to the secrets hiding in the game. You feel an obsession set in. Good it’s just a game. Good you can just stop’.

While the full release of the game isn’t scheduled until around 9-12 months from now, the developer Steam page indicates that Early Access in order to ‘let the system learn from you’, will be available ‘Very Soon’. For those interested in Early Access, the team have promised that those involved will get insight into some of ‘of the brand new gameplay systems that are going to be central to the game’, including new weapons and abilities in addition to ‘Procedural rogue-like run generation baked into the core gameplay loop, enabling us to tell longer, more complex stories and deliver tons more of satisfying skill-based gameplay’. However, they are also quick to point out that the Early Access build will be very ‘bleeding-edge’, with story modes and replay points still to be added to the game build.
