The next entry in the long-running Japanese Tales of series released today side-by-side with the game’s launch trailer. Tales of Berseria hosts the return of the battle system and art style which fans of the series have grown fond of. Deep RPG elements including character customization, intriguing side-quests, and conflict driven narrative are all paid the proper attention the game. Tales of Berseria also boasts a much darker story than previously seen in a Tales game, as well as the series’ first female protagonist.
“In TALES OF BERSERIA players assume the role of Velvet Crowe, a young woman whose once gentle nature has been replaced and overcome with a festering anger and hatred after a traumatic experience left her imprisoned for three excruciating years. In TALES OF BERSERIA, Velvet will join a crew of pirates as they set out for an epic adventure and visit the many islands that make up the sacred kingdom of Midgand.” -Bandai Namco Press Release

Many critics make mention of how the series’ real-time battle system makes a return in Tales of Berseria, with some much needed improvement and tweaks included.
