The Emmy-nominated Mr. Robot is getting the Telltale Games treatment, and it’s about as weird as you’d expect it to be.

The newest tease from the episodic game developer comes via Twitter and Facebook, with the company promoting a new account called @ecorpmessaging. In Sam Esmail’s critically acclaimed drama, E-Corp is an evil multinational company that steals from the American people by drowning them in debt in order to control them. They are rivalled by F Society, the hacker group the titular character is a part of.

Telltale’s social media accounts updated this morning with various promotional clips about a new messaging app that “bring the world together.” The studio accounts say, “the new E-Corp Messaging App for iOS or Android mobile devices will be available on August 17th.”

With no further information given, there is only speculation about what this could mean for The Walking Dead and Tales of the Borderlands developer. With no full episodes or season planned for a Mr. Robot tie-in, Telltale has entered new territory with E-Corp Messaging.

This seems to be Telltale’s first foray into smaller tie-in games with different IPs. Considering the premise of Mr. Robot, it is a surprise that there already isn’t some sort of mini-game tie-in already. Mr. Robot is largely considered the first drama to accurately portray what hacking is really like, leaving the door open for a hacking mobile game tie-in.

Perhaps E-Corp Messaging will allow fans of the show to join F Society and fight E-Corp on the front line.

Mr. Robot is currently airing Season 2 on Wednesday nights at 10:00 PM on USA. It stars Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Carly Chaiken, Portia Doubleday, and Martin Wallstrom.

The drama is also nominated for a Primetime Emmy award in the Outstanding Drama Series category. Rami Malek also received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Stay tuned to @ecorpmessaging for more updates on Telltale’s newest collaboration.
