The Last of Us Part II Announced by Sony

At the end of the show during the PlayStation Experience 2016 (PSX) on Saturday, Sony revealed a teaser trailer for The Last of Us Part II. Very little was shown, but we did see an older Ellie who is still with Joel. The trailer starts with Ellie playing a guitar. We then get to see that there was a bloodbath throughout the house, with dead bodies everywhere, as Joel walks through. It seems that Ellie is out for revenge this time as she tells Joel “I’m going to find and I’m going to kill every last one of them.” She could be talking about anyone but the trailer does not said who. It will be interesting to see nonetheless.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Neil Druckmann has a post talking a little more about the reveal and how we almost did not get it, because they knew it needed to be a “story worth telling” and they kicked around a few different ideas over the past couple of years.

The Last of Us Part II

More information will be coming the the months ahead, as the game is in a very early stage of being worked on. Druckmann has said that The Last of Us Part II is “a ways off” from being finished and released. The team at Naughty Dog just could not wait any longer to share with us that they are working on the game right now.

The Last of Us was originally released in 2013 on the PS3 with a remastered version making its way to the PS4 in 2014. It tells a story of a man (Joel) that was alive during the outbreak and is now, 20 years later, protecting a young girl (Ellie) who might be the key to answering the question of how to fix the world. The Last of Us Part II will be a compliment to the original game and it seems that Ellie will not be taking the back seat this time and will possibly be the character you play as more of this time around.
