The creatively-titled Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is quickly approaching release, and to celebrate, Sega has released a new trailer highlighting the combat system. Series veterans will be intimately familiar with the ‘BLiTZ’ tactical system, which works as a hybrid of turn-based and real-time combat. Units can be arranged and movement can be charted out in an overhead view of the battlefield, but the camera shifts to third-person when combat is underway. Further, this trailer marks the first official announcement of the release date, with the title set to hit shelves on May 17.

With five different character classes, branching technology trees, and vehicles, there are numerous layers to the combat system. Backed up by a gripping narrative and vivid art style, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is shaping up to be a very solid title for the PS4 library.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is set to launch exclusively for the PS4 on May 17. First-run copies of the game will include a limited edition Squad 7 armored case, with pre-orders available now.
