Mojang CEO Confirms Xbox Live Login on Nintendo Switch for Minecraft Crossplay

At this year’s Microsoft conference at E3, it was announced that Minecraft will have an important new update coming this Fall, namely crossplay. In a recent interview, Mojang CEO Jonas Märtensson confirms that you will be able to log in to Xbox Live on Switch in order to play the Microsoft-owned Minecraft. He also expresses his wishes to get Sony involved in Minecraft crossplay, but hints that the block is coming from their side, rather than Mojang’s. The original interview is in Norwegian, and can be found here.

“The Friendly Update,” as it’s called, enables players across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, Xbox One, PC, to play together. The Oculus Rift will also be fully functional with Minecraft. All achievements in Minecraft will count towards your Xbox Live Gamerscore, regardless of platform.

Do you think being able to log in to Xbox Live on the Switch for Minecraft crossplay will pave the way for other gaming collaborations. If that were the case, the skies would be the limit. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
