August 26th marks the launch of YouTube’s very own game streaming service, the appropriately named Youtube Gaming. The streaming service stands as a direct competitor to the incredibly popular Twitch.tv, a site owned and operated under the Amazon brand. YouTube Gaming offers live-streaming of a range of popular games, directly distributing the video feed from the player to the viewers.

YouTube’s blog describes the new service as the “go-to destination for anything and everything gaming,” cited as hosting over 25,000 dedicated individual pages. It will launch alongside a companion iOS/Android app, to allow mobile streaming.

Regardless of how this pans out, it’s refreshing to see some high-level competition in the streaming field. If you’re interested to see how YouTube Gaming compares, head on over to https://gaming.youtube.com/.
